Federal Financial Student Aid and institutional scholarships are available to veterans. Veterans can use these resources in conjunction with their VA benefits. This allows the veteran to make an informed decision on how to best use the VA benefits to finance their college education.
Saint Francis Medical Center does not require veterans to use their Post 9/11 GI Bill® and/or other VA Education benefits to help pay for their education. Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing participates in federal and state financial aid. Students are encouraged to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to apply for need based financial aid prior to utilizing VA benefits. Students who choose to use their VA education benefits should still complete the FAFSA application in order to maximize their financial aid options.

In accordance with Title 38 US Code 3679, if the Federal Government is delayed with tuition and fee payments to Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing for those students using Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33) or , Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (VR&E, Chapter 31) benefits and Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35), students will maintain access to continued enrollment and all College resources. The College will not:
Tuition Assistance (TA) provides financial assistance to members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. Tuition Assistance is available for courses offered in the classroom or by distance education and is part of an approved academic degree program. Each branch of the military establishes its own criteria, restrictions and application processes.
Speak with your ESO or Education Counselor within your military service prior to enrolling with the College of Nursing
Complete the acceptance process and complete all admissions requirements for the College of Nursing. Prior to registering for your first semester, meet with you academic advisor and complete your plan of study for your program.
Upload your degree plan to your military branch portal or submit it to your local Base Education Office for approval. When your TA application has been approved and you receive your TA authorization, notify the Student Finance Office at the College of Nursing College of Nursing Student Finance office will review your document and confirm the approved courses you have entered. The expected TA amount will be applied has pending credit, reducing the amount of tuition for which you are responsible. Student Accounts will generate a voucher to request your TA funds after the institutional refund period.
